October 05, 2006 Pump up the volume Posted by Phil Schwarzmann at 03:11 PM | Categories: News & Information

Cheers to everyone who gave their feedback about the volume of the show. It was too low, and with the "improved" S60 3rd Edition firmware update which turned down the device's volume (GRRR!!), it's quite difficult to hear on a noisy busy or street. So I've turned it up for all future podcasts. Hope that helps!

June 28, 2006 RSS feeds now working properly Posted by Phil Schwarzmann at 03:30 PM | Categories: News & Information

As many of you noticed, there was a little problem with our audio RSS feeds - some (okay...many) RSS readers wouldn't accept them. This is now fixed and the RSS feeds should work as normal. Many many thanks for being patient while we worked to resolve this problem, and special thanks to everyone who e-mailed or commented to report this issue. If you notice any other problems in the future, I'd be very much appreciative if you let me know!

If anyone is interested as to why the audio RSS feeds had troubles - After I upload each podcast, our downloading service provides us with a URL to the file. That URL is not a direct link to the file, but rather a redirect to another location. RSS/XML specifications do not (to my understanding) allow URL's that redirect embedded in the code. So, our downloading service has released a new version of their platform which now provides a direct link to the file.

May 30, 2006 Problems with Voice of S60 RSS audio feed Posted by Phil Schwarzmann at 04:51 PM | Categories: News & Information

As some of you may have noticed, there's a small problem with this podcast's RSS audio feed. Some podcast downloaders such as iTunes may give an error when attempting to download an episode. Or, some podcast apps will download the file with the incorrect file extension - the user has to rename the file to .aac or .mp3.

I believe the problem has to do with the way the file is stored on the server. Nokia Download Service doesn't supply a directly link to any files, but rather a redirect. As you read this I am working hard to get this matter resolved. In the meantime, please use the blog posts below to download the podcasts directly.

Sorry for the inconvience!! Many thanks to everyone who reported this issue and big thanks for being patient while I resolve this matter!

May 26, 2006 Introducing the Voice of S60 Posted by Phil Schwarzmann at 09:32 PM | Categories: News & Information, Upcoming guests

Welcome to the Voice of S60!! Let me tell you a bit about what you'll find here...

The Voice of S60 is a bi-monthly podcast where I'll be interviewing people from the S60 community, both in and outside of the S60 team. They could be developers, bloggers, marketers, enthusiasts...anyone with an expertise in the world of S60.

Each episode will last roughly 15-30 minutes long in both 64kbps mp3 format and 24kbps AAC+ format. I'll announce the guest 1-2 weeks prior to the release here on the blog. During that time I'd encourage everyone to leave questions for the guest in the comments section, I'll then ask those questions to the guest during the interview. After the interview I'd love to hear everyone's feedback, so please be sure to leave all your thoughts in the comments section. You can also send your questions and comments to: voiceofs60 >>AT>> s60.com

If you have any ideas for guests on the show or you'd like to be a guest yourself, we'd love to hear from you! Please contact us via e-mail. In the future we plan to do some live podcasts and use a technology like Skypecasting so everyone can pose their questions and comments to our guest live on the podcast. I'll announce about this later.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys the new podcast!! Looking forward to all your feedback!

- Phil
