October 05, 2006 Pump up the volume Posted by Phil Schwarzmann at 03:11 PM | Categories: News & Information

Cheers to everyone who gave their feedback about the volume of the show. It was too low, and with the "improved" S60 3rd Edition firmware update which turned down the device's volume (GRRR!!), it's quite difficult to hear on a noisy busy or street. So I've turned it up for all future podcasts. Hope that helps!

The sound volume of the latest #10 podcast is still not enough for outdoor listening. Please make it twice louder.

Really? Okay, I'll make it louder for the next one. The problem is that I'm using software to make it louder artificially, and sometimes that can ruin the sound quality.

I think the problem is the microphones I'm using, I purchased some inexpensive ones, and I have to turn the GAIN up almost all the way on my USB recording device. I'll probably purchase some better mics this weekend.

Andrey - which device are you listening to the podcast on?

After I upgraded firmware on my E61 the sound volume is now much lower. In fact: it is almost unusable! I wish I could go back to the previous firmware version: music and podcast listening are very imprtant to me.

Man, I feel your pain. Like you, podcasting and music are my #1. I use my E70 for podcasting/music when I go jogging, while just walking around, in my car, while cleaning the house...and like you said, it's basically unusable now.

I'll hunt down the correct person about this and see if I can get an answer.

Thanks Phil!

Believe me: I am willing to sacrifice all the firmware improvements if I could go back to the previous version and get the volume back.

The music playing capabilities of my E61 are severely hindered by the new firmware.

I have the 6290, or N75 if you'd like (eu vs USA). And im using the only firmware available, and i can tell you that in the rush traffic on the train in the morning you hear more from the dude next to you than from the phone
