November 21, 2007 Major update for Nokia Sports Tracker beta: web service added Posted by Tommi at 04:52 PM | Categories: Nokia Beta Labs

Darn, I missed the scoop, as Eseries.org and All About Symbian broke the news already. Yeah, it's true: significantly improved Nokia Sports Tracker beta is out. And it's good.

You can try it at http://sportstracker.nokia.com/.

We haven't updated the Beta Labs page for Sports Tracker yet, I'll try to get it done tomorrow. However, feel free to start sending us feedback already now!! It's still in beta, and the team is actively improving everything based on your feedback.

In the meanwhile, check out the presentation by Jussi Kaasinen, one of the main guys from the Sports Tracker team: (starts from 5:42)

Update: comments thread closed. Nokia Beta Labs blog and all related discussions have been moved to http://betalabs.nokia.com/blog.

This service is really, really impressive. I can't believe it is free. Garmin offers a similar service but it is subscription based service and not half as good as this one. I know because I paid $95 for their service :-(
Well, never again - I am sticking with Nokia Sports Tracker~!

are they using the bulit-in GPS Modul???
If yes it is batter tehnthe GPS Modul from the N95.
Why you ask?? He use the GPS in the House and the N82 find the satellite.

Ah the N82 turn theNokia Sports Tracker display ;-)

I like the Nokia Sports Tracker because it track the speed on "Autobahn"[like hayway in US but you can so fast you wont] so i can show my family haw fast they drive.

Funny the Staps recoder in the new beta version

I can not wait to make a hands on ;-)

Nokius, The N95 gets a signal inside buildings forme fine. As long as your on the top floor and theres not a metal roof!

infact now with a-gps, its much faster. normally around 15-30 seconds, but it a couple of times its got full lock in 10 seconds even in a building.

I just went to download! to get this new version, but its still the old one? Tried the sportstracker link posted above, and the download links dont work yet.

Anyone got this new version yet?

Fantastic addition to an already great app.

One suggestion for the download page: The way you have categorised the client versions doesn't look right... There are 4 S60v3.1 categories and you have to look at the supported devices in each to find the correct one for your phone. It would be better if there was the normal 'pick your phone model' selection rather than going by the S60 version and firmware.

v1.63 now installs fine on e61, but when i try to launch it gives error

menu: system error (-1)

can someone at nokia beta labs investigate this?

I agree, this is really a great app and the step-meter is a cool new functionality. Maybe you will get the "bone exercise" meter also built in. It's basically calculated based on step.

The world is waiting for a ling to Bluetooth pulse meters and recording those. After that SportsTracker will be perfect!

I get system error -34.

Hey, download links work now on the site, installed onto n95 but the 1.63 version doesnt include step counter??

wierd

Posted by: Gazp | November 22, 2007 09:43 PM

Anyway...I have more issues with this new version. Where can i report them?

Please send your (private) feedback at:
http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/sportstracker/feedback

The Sports Tracker guys are currently enjoying their well-deserved reward vacation somewhere in Lapland, but I'm sure they'll get back to you soon.

Please can we have a download 2D barcode for this app and other applications that are mentioned on this blog?

No, you can't. Currently, it would cause too much maintenance work for me. I do want to add such, however, as soon as we can figure out a low-maintenance way to have such links (so that the barcodes would always point to latest version).
