Windows Live Messenger for S60 3rd edition is spreading fast in the blogosphere.
I'm wondering, why aren't Nokia and Microsoft offering this officially?

Also, why isn't it in the Downloads! app? I've seen other things pop up in there recently.

Posted by: Eric | July 25, 2007 06:43 PMI think they likely don't do it directly because they are afraid operators would less than like it.
Posted by: Martin | July 25, 2007 08:57 PMApart from the usual memory issues (apps closing by themselves in S60), this Windows Live Messenger for S60 3rd Ed. seems to work just fine. It's a lot better than the previous version distributed on Nokia's Hong Kong website.
I posted my experiences in my blog, in case Microsoft and Nokia want to fine tune this nice app. However, they're in Finnish only, sorry
Posted by: Tero Lehto | July 25, 2007 10:05 PMI am not surprised at all, taking into account that Nokia has a history of acting user-unfriendly. However, this is great news since I never had any problems with the last version either.
Posted by: Mike | July 26, 2007 02:09 PMThe reason Nokia/MS isn't doing something like this is, as said before, the operators don't want this. They want to make loads of cash on texting the old-fashioned way. And Nokias costumers are the operators, not the uesrs.
Posted by: Kalleguld | July 30, 2007 03:50 PMIf this feature was built-in, no operators would sell it, and nobody wants to buy a phone without subsidies from the operator.
it s interesting.
