« New non-techie S60 blog: Smartphonin' | Main | Viral marketing explained »
Got an email from Jussi-Pekka, a fabulous colleague of mine:
Here's a great app for the mac users. I was participating in the internal beta and this went live yesterday. This is totally different thing that the crappy media transfer for mac before.
This just makes usage of iTunes pleasure with my N95.
It made me to leave my iPod home.
Jussi
Now I really need to go and buy that Mac.
Comments
This just made my day!
I will try it in some hours!
Now we just need LifeBlog for mac. :)
Posted by: Svend | June 8, 2007 11:40 AMThis is one thing I absolutely hate in Nokia!! Why only support N-series?! Because they are Multimedia Computers?! Product differentiation?!
E-series is built on the same S60 3rd Ed (FPx) platform and should be capable to everything N-series does... I'd love this app with my E61 and soon arriving E90!
=)juha
Posted by: JuhaN | June 8, 2007 02:58 PMI have to agree with JuhaN, This works fine with the N95 and the only thing stopping it working with the E-Series phones is Nokia, it is the same with the 'E series Mail for Exchange' not working with N-Series phones.
Posted by: Nicholas RobinsonDon't Nokia realise that some business users use N-Series and some Personal users use E-Series, lets face it most of us can't be bothered to carry two handset.
Excellent news . . . and not a minute too soon!
Posted by: James @ The Creative Life | June 8, 2007 08:06 PMIsn't it too late. 3 weeks until the iPhone.
Posted by: Kula bácsi | June 8, 2007 08:24 PMIt's a shame that E-series users are being excluded from using this application. Nokia, what's wrong with you...?
Posted by: Tar-Zan | June 9, 2007 02:19 PMStop whining. Mail 4 Exchange doesn't work on N-series phones.
Posted by: Ja-Ne | June 10, 2007 07:56 AM1 - Again why do Nokia suppose that only N-series phones can be used for music and photos... Don't they market the 3250, the 5700 and the 5300 as Xpress Music????? Now how can it be "xpress" if there's something faster for N-series?
2 - One more thing, why do Nokia assume that people with iTunes own a Mac. Didn't they read somewhere that iTunes is also supported on windows? I mean I have an XP, and I can't benefit from this, even though I have iTunes? This sucks!
Posted by: Rita Khoury | June 10, 2007 03:36 PMN Series users are excluded from Blackberry Connect.
Posted by: Robert | June 10, 2007 07:42 PMI agree with Robert. Nseries users are excluded from alot of apps that are only available for Eseries.
Posted by: Darla | June 11, 2007 05:04 AMIt doesn't make sense to not support Eseries devices, especially not the E90 which shares the same target audience as the N95.
Similarly, it doesn't make sense why N95 users can't get a great enterprise email application such as Mail For Exchange.

I've been waiting forever for an app like this and finally now I can use my N73 properly with my Macbook Pro. Awesomeness. I've been using iSync to sync my calendar appointments and Address Book contacts but an official app from Nokia is just awesome.
I think it's logical that it only supports N-series phones right now since they are the most media heavy phones with loads of photos and music to transfer back and forth. E-series is the business series and their users are not really about photos and music transfers, all the models don't even have a camera, so in that sense it's logical that they started with the N-series. But that's just my opinion.
Rock on, Nokia! Rock on.
Posted by: Elisa | June 11, 2007 09:57 AMGood article
Posted by: budowa domów | June 11, 2007 10:53 AM> Why only support N-series?
Dunno. But, as always, I can think of two possible explanations: product differentiation and/or Conways law.
Anyway, as Elisa said, it's logical that Nokia Media Transfer (at least initially) only supports N-series devices. Luckily, there's a way for Eseries owners to hack it: http://techtransit.blogspot.com/2007/06/nokia-media-transfer-for-e-series.html
Posted by: Tommi Vilkamo | June 12, 2007 12:47 PMJudging by videos this looks a huge step forward for Nokia consumers with a mac. Music manager was a disaster (I tried it once and it's probably the worst os x software ever). I hope that Nokia is going to implement support for E series soon (can't figure out why it isn't in the current beta). Business people want to share docs and pics too ;)
And a future request if somebody could pass this to the software division: automatic backup of phones memory would be great! I mean if the phone would make a backup automatically every night and sync it with your computer. I already have automatic sync for address book and calender with simple applescript but I want more! :)

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art art blog, photographs photo blog, sketch blog, videos blog, music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) and are part of a wider network of social media.
