January 15, 2007 Five things you didn't want to know about me Posted by Tommi at 04:41 PM | Categories: General

So, Techmundo and Antony Pranata tagged me in this Five Things meme, in which you are supposed to tell five things about yourself that most people don't know.

Heh, you asked for it...

Five things you don't know about me:
1. I was probably the last person in Finland to buy a mobile phone.
2. I hate the debate about "Is this cup half-full or half-empty". Like Sinuhe the Egyptian, I demand my cup full.
3. I was kicked out of a band 15 years ago (I sucked). Eventually, they became the Children of Bodom. I became an engineer. Well, sort of.
4. In 2002, a couple of months before they hired me at Nokia, I was so broke that I had to volunteer as a human-guinea-pig in testing new medicines. My piss turned red.
5. I never pass on chain letters. Not even those that I enjoy.

Hmm sometimes you really do find out some wacky things. I'll file this (at least the piss one) away in stuff I probably don't need to know but might be useful to remember ;)

> Black metal,huh?:-)

I was a teenager, you know, couldn't help it.

Power Metal?

That's so freaking awesome, do you still listen to that type of music?

Children of Bodom?! Are you serious?! Dude, you rock!

Haha, I'm also shocked you could be now playing in Children of Bodom instead of blogging about S60 :)

What instrument did you play and do you still play?

Posted by: Jaro | January 16, 2007 09:15 AM

I was the bass player. You know, the dumb one.

To be accurate, the band wasn't CoB back then. It was just a couple of teenagers playing Metallica and Guns'n'Roses covers. But about then, I learned to play guitar pretty well, and formed a couple of bands of my own.

Obviously, they didn't become as successful as CoB :-)

Anyway, I still have a Children of Bodom album in the memory card of my Nokia N73. But otherwise, my musical taste has grown wider: from David Bowie to Dream Theater, from Audioslave to Astor Piazolla, from Beatles to Buena Vista Social Club, from King Crimson to Johnny Cash to Mew to System of a Down to Vangelis to Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd etc, etc, etc.

It looks like we've got some things in common here. I probably was the last person in France to buy a mobile phone (well, not really i guess) and my musical tastes are very much alike (although i'm definitely not keen on Buena Vista Social Club). I also stopped CoB a while ago but i still sometimes play it to calm me down in the very rare moments when i feel like killing someone :-)

Ugh, I just realized that I'm on that list!

"Children of Bodom?! Are you serious?! Dude, you rock!"

Is this because he was in the band or because he got kicked out and is not in the band now? ;)
