« Nokia World blog - how do you like it? | Main | Make a Wish »
Our commander-in-chief Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo spoke wise words yesterday:
"The internet has transformed the way we live our lives and communicate with each other, and we expect it to play a key role in the next phase of Nokia's growth. The next wave of the internet will be to make it truly mobile, creating new ways for people to connect to others and find information from wherever they are. Nokia intends to be at the forefront of this new era and be the company that truly merges the internet and mobility."
Take note.
However, I have a nagging feeling that not everybody understands what this is all about. Here's how I see it:
It's not about Nokia (or mobile world) going Internet.
It's about the Internet going mobile.
And I think there is a crucial difference. Yes, the Internet will change big time, as the mobile world enters the game. But the mobile world will change even more dramatically, as the Internet enters the game. Feel free to disagree.

I totally agree. I am a flash designer/developer and now i have to merge to other technologies so that the sites i make are compatible and easy to navigate on mobile devices. One step towards the internet going mobile would be to make a website dedicated to helping web designers make mobile optimized websites or mobile versions.
P.S. I just love how this blog looks :)
Posted by: Alexandru | November 30, 2006 02:22 PMi hope it's more like the mobile world going internet than the internet going mobile. the internet is fine as it is, it just need to be accessible by mobile means. i feel trapped within the mobile framework, more like someone else is deciding for me what i can do and cannot. internet as i've grown accustomed to, gives me more freedom of choice. it's vague, i know, sorry for that, maybe i can explain myself better another time.

I only go to a desktop if a flash site wont render correctly. If more mobiles utilized Nokia's browser technology and more websites were accessible to that type of browser, much of the web could be accessed by mobiles. By the way, I am posting this from my E62.
