April 26, 2006 Mobile Search for S60 3rd edition Posted by Tommi at 12:42 PM | Categories: 3rd party S60 applications

No, I'm not talking about Mobile Search by Nokia, but the solution by Odendahl SEPT-Solutions.

Odendahl SEPT-Solutions is proud to announce Mobile Search 2.06 for S60 3rd edition devices. It is therefore now also compatible with Nokia 3250, N91, N80, N92, N71, E60, E70 and E61.

You can search in the following sections:
- Contacts, search is processed in any field
- Calendar, inclusive notes, appointments and anniverseries
- todo
- SMS in all folders and custom subfolders
- email in all folders and custom subfolders, searches in body as well as subject line
- complete file system regarding filenames, found files can be viewed in associated application

With the integrated option dialog, you can define in which sections of the mobile the search should be processed to get your results as fast as possible. After successful search, you 'll get a list with all found results, which can be directly viewed. You can also switch to the associated application and selected listbox entry is also copied to clipboard automatically.

With the improved speed of the new devices, it is now even more fun and convenient to search for any data on your mobile.

We still think this function should be part of the OS, but until that day, this is a good stop-gap.

Strange problem on N91, wouldn't install on HDD.

That is strange Jukka, we have installed it onto the HDD on our N91's with no problems. However we are getting our own strange problem. The application runs once fine, then when you come to open it for a second time you get a "Expired Demonstration Version". The Odendahl site says this is a 10 day trial period. Any thoughts?

The same thing happens to me. Sounds like a bug or something. I'll forward this to Odendahl people.

Hi Tommi,

thanks a lot for promoting my app, this is really great.

I think I fixed the trial version bug and have uploaded a new version.

If it does not work with this version, the msearch.cfg file must be deleted first, it is in \private\A00005B2\.
As most people won't have access to this folder, please uninstall and then reinstall the application.

I am very sorry for the unconvenience.

Best regards
Max

Hi everyone,

I guess more people are reading this blog than my website, so I ask here :-)

Are you interested in landscape mode? Would you like to use landscape mode e.g. in Mobile Search or does it not really matter?

I hope it is ok to ask here, Tommi, maybe you can put this question into a blog entry. I think all developers would love to know if their customers are interested in this feature.

Regards
Max

Max, still won't install on my HDD?

Posted by: Jukka | April 26, 2006 06:08 PM

Jukka, I am sorry to hear.

I heared from several others that it is working fine in HDD, but this doesn't help you of course.

The problem is that I cannot think of anything that would prevent to install it.

What error do you get?
It works fine on memory card?

Regards
Max

Max, I get error 'File corrupted' after installation starts. N91 doesn't have a memory card, but I tried in E70 and it installs fine. Also installs to phone memory on N91. This might be difficult to hunt down..

Posted by: Jukka | April 27, 2006 12:23 PM

Yes, it is. I would love to help, but currently I have no idea where to start or what to do.

I'll try to get my hands on a N91 to test this.

Cannot install it on my E70. All other 3rd party apps install ok.
