Nokia Open Lab in Helsinki this week
In case you haven’t already heard, Nokia is hosting “Nokia Open Lab” event in Helsinki at the end of this week. The event gathers people with different viewpoints on social media and the future of mobility to discuss how social interactions and technological interactivity will affect us all in the future. We hope the event will be a great learning experience both for Nokia and the participants.
I’ll be attending this event as well and hope to do some blogging on what’ll be going on there. I’ll also post photos to our Ovi and Flickr accounts.

wow..! sounds fun. I’m sure it would be a great learning experience. Will look forward to the upcoming pictures on Ovi and Flickr. ;-P
Im green with envy, I would love to attend too, Im actually in Finland too, but some 5 hours car drive away.
Look forward to your updates.
I am actually attending this event and will be leaving Dallas, TX in a few hours for Helsinki. You can read a few more details on the workshop on my Mobile Technology Review blog at http://mobiletechreview.blogspot.com. I will also try to do some blogging from Helsinki, so keep an eye on my blog as well.

Hello Saara,
I hope you have had a fruitful event!
I was wondering, how do you see the importance /weighting of mass community type of usage vs. private /family /group of friends based “closed - resricted” kind of usage of social networking.
I get the feeling that the open stuff gets much heavier emphasis in your discussions as those open, “masses based” tools seem to be the way to acctually attracting the masses (see youtube).
But in my opinion it might be the closed/protected access family/friends group kind of usage which will spread more in social networking, as average people might feel hat they should restrict access more to their private life in social networks. (unlike in youtube where you publish few special stuff, you might want to restrict access to your fresh pictures). (see identity theft in the US)
how do you see this?
