April 25, 2008 S60 web browsing experience with Charles Posted by Saara at 05:03 PM | Categories: S60 Events

I believe the majority of you readers of See into S60 are quite familiar with what you can do with the S60 browser. Nevertheless, I shot this short video of Charles, who has recently joined the See into S60 blog crew, because I thought you might want to know more about us behind the See into S60 blog too. Charles is talking about what features that make the S60 browser handy to use. He also shows the latest addition, Flash Lite 3 support, which allows you to experience the full desktop-like web Video.

Very nice...

Its a pitty that it is not the S60 browser for all S60 V3 phones...

but it is a browser for a few S60 V3 phones... on others it wont work. Or will it? Please say it will!

For your information, while I found the S60 browser in the N95 v21 firmware beautifull, unfortunatelly I practically never use the S60 browser any more - due to the memory issues - in my FP0 device (E70).

On the E70 the S60 browser can provide an incredible - I would say I-phone beating - experience (which you cannot see on any other S60 phone due to the high resolution of the E70) You can display an 800x600 page on the E70 fully READABLE at 50% zoom on the 416x352 screen. (push # twice)

Nowadays I use TeaShark and Opera Mini (for saving web pages) on the E70 because the old S60 browser which we have for S60 V3 FP0 phones has serious memory leak.

I think this is about the 100th time - and I am starting to feel sorry to be this annoying - I am asking: Please provide the S60 browser upgrades for S60 V3 FP0 phones like the E70...

Thanks & Regards!
Aron

Hello,

I just have to correct myself because the E61i is officially also a V3 FP0 phone but it is vey good for browsing and has almost none of the memory leaks my E70 has.

I also have to confess, I sometimes reboot my E70 phone (now X-plore can do soft reboot) - keeping the keyboard open when rebooting so I save memory without the need for opening it after rebooting - just for the purpose I can enjoy the S60 browser at 50% zoom on my E70 screen. Yes, it is that good when there is memory available after rebooting...

I wrote this just to encourage you, to provide the memory fix (where it is needed) and the new browser to S60 V3 FP0 phones...

Thanks & Regards!
Aron
