As we are getting closer to this year’s Mobile World Congress (formerly known as 3GSM) in Barcelona Feb 11 – 14, I thought I’d share our plans for the event.
Like the previous years, S60 will have a strong presence in MWC. Visitors to the S60 stand will be treated to a view of the latest S60 platform features, applications, technologies and devices. This year’s demos include:
- S60 touch UI
- S60 sensor technologies
- S60 Internet browsing
- S60 Internet innovation enablers (Web runtime and Flash Lite runtime evolution with Service APIs)
- S60 native development platform (Open C evolution, C++, Python)
- S60 and Internet community services
- S60 device showcase
- The infamous Tune my S60 kiosk
Find out more about the demos from www.s60.com.
S60 stand can be found from hall 8, stand number 8B169. We'll be at the same location as last year. Check the floor plan of hall 8 from here (.pdf) More information about Nokia in MWC from http://www.nokia.com/mwc. This wiki also provides some useful information about the events around MWC.
I will be there blogging and Jaikuing from the event as well as working at the S60 stand. Who else is going to be there? Please leave a comment to this post or drop me an email (saara dot bergstrom at nokia dot com) – It would be nice to meet you!

Saara thanks again for the nice day @ the head ;-)
Looking forward to meeting up with you Stefan and hope to meet Jay some other occasion.
Nokius, it was nice meeting you! The touch demo on the list is just a demo. We've had the same demo on other trade shows before MWC too.
The admission fee is defined by the GSM Association who organizes the conference.
Posted by: Saara | January 21, 2008 02:35 PMHey Saara,
I'll be seeing you there as well.
Posted by: Darla | January 22, 2008 06:36 AMI look forward to seeing you there too!
I'll caught up doing SpinVox duties for the most part but I'll try and get over and say hi!
:)
Posted by: whatleydude | January 22, 2008 12:13 PMI'll be there too trying to get round as many things as possible.
Posted by: Rafe | January 23, 2008 04:54 PMI'll also be there as well.
Posted by: Amir | January 24, 2008 11:56 PMI'll also be there as well, looking forward to meeting you.
Posted by: Amir | January 24, 2008 11:58 PMI certainly hope it won't be just a repeat of the demo video from Symbian Show and Nokia World ;)
It's been 4 months since S60 Touch announcement and 4-9 months until the first devices are supposed to show up (Are they still on track for H2, 2008?)
There must be at least some working prototypes somewhere out there already.
Anyway I'll be in Barcelona, and I won't be looking for the same old video I watched dozens of times already.
I'm looking forward to more info and technical details on the workings and capabilities of the S60 Touch, announcements of new touch devices and the like.
But what really will make me happy is to find something real to TOUCH, with the new S60 inside :)
Posted by: Staska | January 25, 2008 10:46 PMI thing so too Nokia have to show an touch UI device if not it will be to hard to go in this markt because LG Samsung and Apple still selling touch devics !!
I hope the next S60 phones have touch s. and keypad.
Posted by: Nokius | January 27, 2008 03:53 PMwe will see in the next few month ;-)
i hope S60 came to Cebit in Germany.
Cebit is like CES in the USA and this year few weeks after MWC on the 4-9.03.2008.
Posted by: Nokius | January 27, 2008 07:45 PMGreat to get meet so many of you in MWC! The Touch demo has been renewed, so it won't be exactly the same as in Nokia World.
Posted by: Saara | January 28, 2008 12:45 PMCan't wait, another great S60 event!
Posted by: krazykritter | February 1, 2008 05:57 AMI'll be there too - looking forward to meeting you all.
Posted by: Neil | February 1, 2008 01:48 PMHi there!
I strongly agree with Staska, the "demo" of Touch UI was crap. Even worse, there was no word about multi-touch.
@Nokius: Like last year, Nokia won't be at CeBIT in 2008. They say, it's not worth the money. They even had no money to give people visiting Nokia World in Amsterdam a goody like a bag or something similar. Poor event!
Please Nokia: Build a device like the E90 with two haptikos displays and enhance S60 for business users, this means an efficient to-do-application (integrated in agenda, of course) like in the good old Psion devices. Talk with car manufacturers, that they integrate your devices like an iPod and please, keep building such devices for years (same connections, same size) ... because we in Germany like to use car-cradles for our devices.
Posted by: Hoffi | February 2, 2008 11:08 PMI will be there too, can't wait to meet you all!
