Flash Lite 3 is coming to S60...
Flash Lite from Adobe brings Flash technology to mobile phones and consumer electronics devices - with additional features designed to meet the specific needs of mobile phone owners. With Flash Lite on S60, the graphic richness and easy development capabilities of desktop Flash are available on tens of millions of S60 devices. Currently, 33 different S60 devices support Flash Lite, which has been available since S60 3rd Edition. Bringing desktop-like experiences with Flash Lite 3
The S60 platform will soon include the latest version of Flash Lite, Flash Lite 3. With Flash Lite 3 and the Web Browser for S60, you will be able to view Flash animations on Web pages, just like you do on your desktop computer. You can also enjoy web video content from your favorite video-enabled Web site, including YouTube, MySpace, and other popular sites.
Flash Lite 3 will be available on selected S60 device models from the first quarter of 2008

Posted by: Nokius | October 16, 2007 07:56 PMHello Phil,
Interesting news. Does it mean that Flashlite 3 will not be plugable for earlier phones?
E.g.: the E90? Or E70? or where will be the line?
Regards!

Posted by: sissel | October 17, 2007 04:22 PMOne question:
The upcoming gaming n81 comes with Flash Lite 2.0, can it be upgraded to Flash Lite 3.0?
I already have an e65, and I won't be upgrading to an internet phone that doesn't play youtube. SO I want to know that if I get an n81, I could watch youtube when flash lite 3.0 is out.
Reply to me on t_daktara@hotmail.com
Thanks
Posted by: Tarex | October 20, 2007 10:01 PMyou guys are not answering aron's question (which is also a question i have). I have the nokia n95. I dont know what version of flash lite is installed but as I had read this flash lite 3 could be the answer to view youtube. now what I need to know is if the version pre-instaled on the phone upgradable to the 3.0? (coz the current surely does'nt allow me to watch in youtube.com directly from the browser which is what i prefer)
Posted by: avillamor | October 22, 2007 08:27 PMCiao avillamor,
the Nokia N95 is Flash Lite 2.0 enabled. You can view Flash Lite 2.0 content as standalone (run games, applications and so on), you can setup a Flash Lite 2.0 animation as screensaver and you can view Flash Lite 2.0 content in the S60 browser.
The Flash Lite 3.0 will be available for developers for creating content. My guess is that it will be only standalone as previous versions for developers. So even if you install it, you will not be able to view Flash Video in the browser.
So to view Flash Video content (YouTube like!) you will need to have a Flash Lite 3 enabled handsets which should be shipping starting 1st quarter 2008 (S60.com source)
If you have more questions, let me know.
