Wow, big day at Nokia yesterday. I just got done watching the big presentation from Nokia's top brass in London. New N-Gage platform, new music service, and three new S60 devices!?! I'm floored!! Although sometimes I wish Nokia could get a spokesperson to show a little more enthusiasm for such an exciting event. And I cringed everytime I heard the words "Series 60" and not "S60". :-)
Fortunately the technology speaks for itself! Check out the latest members of the S60 device family from S60.com - The Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N81, and Nokia N81 8GB...

Land lines have pretty much disappeared from the modern world yet I still regularly see them in movies. Like last night I saw the 2007 film "Fracture" ,starring Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins (hands down *worst* movie of the year). The high powered and assumably wealthy lawyers in the movie missed important phone calls from each other because they weren't at home to answer their land line, not once did I see a mobile phone! C'mon!! (Thinking about it now, I do remember a mobile phone, which proves my point even further)
So my question is: When will land lines disappear from movies? Writers purposefully defy logic when they make the characters play phone tag with each other and leave messages on ancient answering machines, all so the plot can twist in a certain way.
Imagine the film industry in the near future when time machines are readily available in every household. Something bad happens to one of the characters in a movie and I'll cry out, "Why did he do that!? He knows he could have taken his S60-brand Time Machine back in time and prevented that! C'mon!!"
One of the nastiest storms I've ever experienced just came over Nokia Headquarters in Espoo, Finland. We lost electricity in the building for about 20 minutes. Doors didn't work and some people were trapped, and I saw some people trapped in the elevators! I'd have freaked out! But power's back on and we're back work!

The Application Wishlist on S60.com has become a popular way for consumers to tell developers what kind of apps they should develop, and it's been an ideal tool for developers to use when thinking of new apps to design. We've noticed a lot of users contributing great ideas on how to improve the S60 platform itself, so yesterday we launched the "Feature Wishlist" in the B2B section of S60.com.
This page is monitored daily by members of our marketing team and the wishes are passed along to S60's product development team. Our marketing guys can provide feedback on each of the wishes in the comment section, they might even let you know if your wish is already planned for an upcoming release.
So if you've got a great idea to improve the S60 platform, this is the perfect way to begin a direct line of communication to our development team. The Wishlist also comes packed with an RSS feed, tagging, categories, search capability, and Digg-style voting. Occasionally our marketing team will create summaries of all the most interesting wishes and post them on S60.com.
Hope everyone finds it fun and useful! I'm really looking forward towards everyone's ideas!

I got tagged by Jake of S60 TV, which is great because I *never* get tagged! So here's the rules...
- Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
- People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules..
- At the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names..
- Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
1. Learning the Finnish language is probably the greatest challenge I've ever taken on. I'm doing quite well, but as any foreigner in Finland will tell you, it's a VERY difficult language.
2. I'm President of the Nokia Board Game Club, and have over 200 board and card games in my collection. In my free time I design my own games (I'm a fan of Euro/German games) and have hopes to one day have a game published.
3. My girlfriend is Finnish, that's how I wound up in Finland, we met on a cruise in the Bahamas.
4. My pet peeve is ABC gum (= already been chewed gum). Just the sight of it makes me sick to my stomach.
5. My favorite author is Philip K. Dick, I've read almost everything he's ever written. Many of his books have been made into movies like: Minority Report, Total Recall, Blade Runner, A Scanner Darkly, and others.
6. My favorite band is Depeche Mode and has been so since I was about 9 years old. I just can't get enough.
7. I think I've memorized every line in every episode of The Simpsons. My favorite line, from Ralph Wiggum, "Hi Principal Skinner! Hi Super Nintendo Chalmers!"
8. The city of Tromso in northern Norway is the most beautiful place I've ever visited. The area around Kuusamo, Finland is a close second, the French Riviera third.
I'm now tagging: Jukka Eklund, Carol Chen, Kevin Korppi, Dan Shugrue, Dameon Welch-Abernathy, Peter Harbeson, Steven Stewart, and Dean Andrews.
