Jure gives his demonstration about Open C in S60...

Having been a Symbian developer for some years, this seems absolutely great to me! The Symbian application framework is quite overengineered in my humble opinion. Hopefully this also provides better opportunities for open source software targeting multiple operating system domains! I think we really should try to integrate the software engineering culture at an operational level between univertities and megacorporations better!
Posted by: Jusa | March 10, 2007 02:31 PMSymbian is a great leap forward, and for what it is meant to accomplish, it succeeds on every level. However, I wonder about the applicability to mobile software programming. That is to say, I don’t doubt that Symbian makes it easier to move from a standard platform to a mobile one, but I wonder generally about the viability of the mobile platform in the future. It is certainly true that the mobile phone is seen as the future access point for the internet, but to take but one example, the iPhone is certainly being marketed as capable of accessing “the internet” as opposed to mobile or slimmed down versions of the internet. I haven’t had the chance to play with one yet myself, but I would expect that, over time, there’s bound to be a push on the hardware end towards better memory and resolution for cells, which may wind up making all these efforts at mobile content essentially useless.
Posted by: Mobile Phones | July 5, 2007 06:09 AMThe notes are a bit cut so is this Open C API or Open C++? Although this has been Greek and new to me, I heard that The Open C API has consistently been rated higher than those of competitors in terms of completeness and usability, and has been recognized as one of the most stable and reliable APIs from release to release (based on the number of deleted and changed functions relative to total number of functions).
Posted by: Portrait artists | July 30, 2007 09:52 AMI’ve read that Open C makes it easier to tap the full power of the world's most successful smartphone platform. The problem is even phone manuals do not provide the basic information or instruction about this. Do you have any word on this?
