July 25, 2006 A few quick Nokia Podcasting Application tips Posted by Phil Schwarzmann at 02:27 PM | Categories: Freeware, Hints & Tips, Multimedia

Nokia Podcasting Application is hands down my favorite new 3rd Edition app. I love podcasts and I utilize it daily. But once you install it, there's a few quick things you may want to do to improve your experience with it...

Do you have a podcast of your own, but Nokia Podcasting Application's built-in search engine won't find it. Then you need to submit your podcast feed to Digital Podcast at www.digitalpodcast.com - That's the online directory it uses.

Not happy with the default online directory? You can change it at: OPTIONS -> SETTINGS -> CONNECTION -> Serach service URL

Want to download mature content (such as podcasts that might discuss mature topics or use curse words)? Goto OPTIONS -> SETTINGS -> CONNECTION -> Serach service URL - and edit the default URL, simply remove the "&contentfilter=noadult" from the end.

Is the application always asking you which access point to use before it begins updating/downloading? Goto: OPTIONS -> SETTINGS -> CONNECTION -> Default access point - and change it from "Always ask" to which connection you normally use.

Do you want to stop having to update the podcast feeds manually? Have the application do it automatically - Goto: OPTIONS -> SETTINGS -> DOWNLOAD -> Update interval - Your choices are every 15 minutes, every hour, twice a day, once a day.

Why isn't there a version for 2nd edition?

Yes, we should get a version for s60 2nd edition also.

I’m having problems with changing the default access point in the Podcasting application. It looks like the settings is read-only or something. Every time I change the setting it puts back the ‘Always ask’ as default access point.

So no automatic updates for me :( Are there people with the same problem and hopefully a solution?

I can't seem to download any podcasts after updating. I get the error "Download limit reached" -- I deleted all my old podcasts and set my limit percentage down to 5%, but it still wont let me download anything...
