I earlier teased you with a Flash lite 1.1 application, and promised that it would be available from here. This just to let you know that the file is now available. So if you have a device with Flash Lite player on it, go grab it and let me know what you think. Works best on S60 3rd Edition devices.
Have a nice week-end.

Really nice vectors and design. Looks so nice on the lovelly N80 high res screen. Performance could be better, but thats the price you pay for rich vectors :) Good job.
Could maybe look at Optimaze to optimise the vectors, of course Flash is pretty good at doing this to, but Optimaze is a more automated tool. Probably worth looking at this kinda stuff when its the final final version, file size, performance etc

Nice work indeed. Although I would disagree on the bit that this would work best on 3rd edition device as of now! While the transitions are rather choppy on N80 (indeed some optimization goes a long way), everything runs much more smoothly on 6680, for example. Obviously this is due to the smaller screen resolution, less pixels to push. But I guess you guys have to push 3rd ed now, hence the "works best on 3rd ed part", eh? ;)
BTW, has anybody else noticed that there is a screen drawing glitch that sometimes appears with N80 Flash Lite player? It is even visible with this app in one part of the flow! I'll try and see if I can capture it with a screenshot tomorrow. It looks like part of the screen not being redrawn properly sometimes, resulting in greenish faded areas in graphics. We ran into these same redraw problems when creating a Flash Lite app for 3rd ed. recently, but when optimizing the app we managed to avoid them at the end.
This redraw bug only affects N80s of all the phones we tested with - none of the 2nd edition phones with Flash Lite player installed or 3rd ed E60.
Anybody else has noticed this? If someone has, is it only N80 that is affected?
Posted by: Aki | June 12, 2006 02:36 AMThe reason it works smoother on 2nd edition devices is because the 2nd edition player is a lot faster. I don't think its to do with number of pixels as I experience the same slowness with the N91 which is 176x208. I think its just that the FL player was implemented seperately for the 3rd edition - essenitally its a different player.
Which also explains things like the redraw issue you mention. I too have seen this and it would be great to know what causes it. I can't get rid of it on one of my games. Also I have seen this on both N80 and N91 - so I just think its a bug with the 3rd edition version of Flash Lite. It would be great to know what causes the redraw issue so that we can build in workarounds.
