Image transfer as it could be
It would be great if I did not have to transfer my images to my computer in such a complicated way. Even if Bluetooth is kind of usable to me, I still feel that the whole process is a burden. I have to force myself to do it - to turn the BT on in both the devices, to select the images (which is so slow) and accept the reception in the computer.
How about having a one-touch image transfer process? I could for example have a small flat gadget permanently attached to my computer with a cable. Every time I put my phone on this small blanket, my phone would automatically copy all my images to my particular image folder in my computer? I could leave the device lying there for a while and come back and *know for sure* that everything is fine.
Bluetooth is not that complicated as infrared used to be. Yes, I used IrDA for long to transfer my mobile phone images into my computer - imagine how long it took and - even worse - I needed to keep the phone steady next to the infrared port. I always had to place my phone on a thin book so that the visual connection between the devices was exactly right. In that sense, BT is a clear step forward. But still, could I have something smoother
?

Why not using the USB cable (DKU-2 or CA-53) and then configuring the PC Suite Image Store application to automatically download and delete all photos and videos. Just plug in the cable and there you go. Cheers, Ole.
I use Mac at home… And to be honest, PC Suite does not really sound so alluring to me with the work computer neither
One reason is that I change the phone model fairly often due to my work, so the fluent transfer tends to stop along the new phone. That’s my experience from 2 years ago.
Well, the current PC Suite is working quite fine - especially when using the USB cable. I would give it a try if you have access to a Windows PC.
Cheers, Ole.
The automatic photo-/video-download is working flawlessly - and it can use different folders and settings for each of your different phones. I’m using this feature with a mixture of 3 different S60 phones simultaneously and the PC Suite handles this extremely well. I don’t know how you can conveniently copy the photos from your work computer to your Mac, though
It’s a constant irritation to me that there’s no good solution for working with the files on S60 phones on a Mac. Basically you have to select the images on the phone then ’send’ them via Bluetooth to the Mac. If you want to get stuff from the Mac to the phone you have to do the same thing and they arrive on the phone as messages. While I was using a 6230 you could browse the filesystem using Bluetooth on the Mac and that was great. It allowed you to copy files enmass or to drop files exactly where you wanted them to go. Why on earth isn’t this supported on S60?
This is why I like Life Blog
Every few days while working at my computer I start Life Blog on my PC and select get New Items. Life Blog then takes everything off my phone, images and video are removed from the phone permanently so that the memory is freed up.
I don’t need to do anything on my phone - so its 2 click transfer, one click to start Life Blog the other to start copying.
Hi,
its Tam Hanna from TamsPalm here. Lurking here for quite some time, finally talking back.
My good old SX1 had such a thingy two years ago. It was called Scheduled Tasks, and whenever I plugged it into my workstation, all the photos were pulled off automatically!
Best regards
Tam Hanna

Here’s one voting for Lifeblog too. Best mobile application by far! You get it free for the phone and with N-series handsets the PC-application is free too.
I’ve used it for about three years with different S60 handsets and all the data (messages, pictures, videos, voicerecordings and text notes) from that time is in convenient way stored in my PC as a electronic diary!
And as Nick already told above, the file transfer is a breeze!
I’ve found Nokia Collector rather useful a solution for moving files between my old SonyEricsson and my Mac – but doesn’t that work with new Nokias, then?
