You thought I was going to write about the iPhone, didn't you? No, there are plenty of other places to read about that piece of news. This entry reports on another announcement from CES, about the collaboration between Nokia and Vox, a new online blogging and media sharing service from blog pioneers Six Apart. Instead of requiring you to maintain separate accounts for your blog, photos and videos, Vox combines them all into a single site (and a single account).
The Vox uploader uses the same Atom protocol that Flickr, Lifeblog and other services use (see Hugo's comment here for details), so it works not only on the new N93i, but also on any Nseries phone that supports Flickr uploading from the Gallery - the screen shot here is from my N75.
[UPDATE January 18] Tommi reports that if you have a pre-Internet Edition N80, you can now update it officially to IE, and join the Atom uploading fun!
Any Voxers out there? Let me know how you like it!
-Oren

I'm a Vox'r! I've actually configured it to work on my N73 and it works fine.
Awesome theme by the way!
Posted by: Darla | January 12, 2007 04:31 PMOren,
I've recently setup my Vox account to use in place of my Textamerica moblog. Don't have any pictures up quite yet, but I have gone through the configuration procedure, and also posted about it on my blog, (Http://www.symbian-guru.com). I'm excited about this new partnership, anytime new services come out and partner with powerhouses, everyone wins.
PS - how do you like your N75?
Regards,
Rcadden

Darla, that theme is one of the Nseries themes that come with N75, N76 and others.
Posted by: Jukka Eklund | January 13, 2007 12:41 AMI checked out Vox and even registered. I have the application running on my N73.
I looks promising, altough some things seems to take time. I uploaded a video from my N73 a week ago and it still is being processed by the service provider.
And a bigger problem for me is, that it seems that you can't enable comments to anybody outside the Vox-community.
Posted by: Henrikki | January 13, 2007 05:24 AMSo will this work with my N80?
It seems like I have to manually configure lifeblog or another app if I want to post. I have flickr working with lifeblog but I cant seem to setup lifeblog with more than one acccount.
Posted by: Eric | January 13, 2007 09:47 PMJukka, the theme that he had up with his post before was this cool funky kind of orangeish thing. Lol, Oren put the theme back up!
Posted by: Darla | January 14, 2007 10:20 AMWhat about E series devices?
Posted by: Stefan Constantinescu@Eric: This will work only with N80 Internet Edition devices, which have additional software in the Gallery that supports the online services (i.e. the Atom protocol).
@Stefan: as far as I know, this does not work with E-Series devices. You can use ShoZu from E-Series, however, to upload photos and videos to Flickr and a number of other services.
Posted by: Oren Levine | January 15, 2007 07:49 AMEric -- I've not tested it, but any Lifeblog should be able to post to Vox. Lifeblog for the N80 allows multiple accounts to be defined, so in theory you can add your Vox account there, and then post from within Lifeblog.
Posted by: Hugo | January 15, 2007 10:36 AM@Ricky: I'm very happy with the N75, actually. Nice size, great keypad, and very good music player. I use the Nokia Podcasting App regularly on this phone, and since it supports 3G in the US, it's much easier to download podcasts.
