September 11, 2006 Early adopters' wish list: Thanks, Tommi! Posted by Oren at 04:25 PM | Categories:

Thanks, Tommi, for gathering those improvement suggestions from S60 users and fans. We're studying the results now, and will take them as input into our own product planning. We are happy to report that some of these suggested features will be included in S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1. You will see them later this year, in the first products that use this new version of the platform. For example:

- The S60 Music Player will display album art from MP3's. (Some 3rd Edition devices, such as the N91, already support album art)
- We removed the 1 minute limit on the S60 Voice Recorder. It will support recordings of an hour or more

There was a suggestion for "Integration of Pictures/Videos with online sharing service" .This is already supported on some N-Series phones, thanks to cooperation between Nokia and Flickr. On other S60 models, 3rd party applications such as ShoZu already offer automatic uploading of photos and videos, available with one click after you take a picture.

Many other items from Tommi's list are on our roadmap and wish lists as well. Thanks again to everyone who contributed suggestions!

Would be great if N80 gets its mp3 player updated for album art. Very nice player otherwise :)

I remember 6630 had its mp3 player updated.

The voice recorder should also do stereo recordings on devices that have 2 microphones (like the N93).

Also, the rewinding/fast forwarding of AAC music files in the built-in music player is very flaky at best. Sometimes the music just stops, and can't be unpaused.

Just saw that "support for animated gif and images" for screensavers is available in S60 3rd FP 1.

(At least the Carbide.ui manual says it does. And SWF and SVG too ... )

Nice. But it seems my 3250 is out-of-date very soon.

I have 2 big issues with the gallery application in the S60 version that's on the N73. First, since by default it opens every single pictures and videos on the phone when you launch gallery, you have to use albums to categorize them. But to access albums, the only way is to do Gallery -> Pictures & Videos -> Options -> Albums -> View albums. Please allow us to do a shortcut somewhere directly to the albums.

Second request would be for a way for the gallery to work in portrait mode. It seems to work that way on the N75 from screenshots I've seen but it would be great to backport it too.
