This week I was joined by Petteri Koponen and Joe Walnes from Google. They had some very exciting S60 related news to share about Google’s Picasa Web Albums for S60. Petteri Koponen is a co-founder of four companies, who joined Google in 2007 after the acquisition of the micro-blogging company Jaiku. At Google, one of his favorite tasks is to look over Picasa Web Albums for mobile, a mobile-optimized AJAX application for browsing online photos.

Petteri has worked with mobile products for the last ten years. During this time, his duties have varied from selling service operator platforms in the Middle East to ramping up the R&D and operations of a pan-European mobile virtual network operator. He loves the diversity of mobile technologies and endless creativity of software engineers.

Joe Walnes is a software engineer for Google in London. For the past 12 years of his career, Joe has had a strong focus on building fast and intuitive web-applications - that’s what he loves. In the last couple of years, he’s turned his attention to mobile web-applications.

At Google, Joe leads the Picasa Web Albums for mobile team, where he’s been investigating better ways to share photos on your phone. Outside of this, Joe is actively involved in the open source community. Search the web to find out more…

Daniel Shugrue is a 10 year software and telecom industry veteran. He currently heads the Consumer Engagement team in Nokia’s S60 Marketing group. Prior to his role with S60 Marketing, Daniel served as Product Manager for Nokia’s picture messaging service. Before that he worked with unified messaging software. Daniel holds a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from Babson College.

Ganesh and I met up at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco to talk about the things that were announced at the show. S60 truly is taking steps forward in web technologies and bringing the Internet to mobile and in this podcast Ganesh will explain what it is all about. Ganesh Sivaraman heads the global marketing of Web Technologies & Applications for S60 and has been instrumental in creating the excitement & awareness of the highly-acclaimed Web Browser for S60. Prior to joining S60 marketing team, Mr. Sivaraman was in charge of product management of S60 Rich Call and had the global responsibility for product creation, management and strategic direction. Mr. Sivaraman also represented Nokia as the lead delegate in mobile standardization bodies, such as SyncML and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), as co-chairman in SyncML and vice-chairman in OMA Data Synchronization groups. Mr. Sivaraman has been with Nokia since 2000 and has a master’s in science degree in Electronics.

I had the pleasure to chat with Oren Levine who is working in S60 marketing focusing on what S60 offers to software developers and others interested in creating new and interesting applications using the platform. We talked about the runtimes on S60, innovative new applications and the next events where you’ll be able to find out about the latest S60 developments. Oren Levine brings almost 20 years of experience in software development and mobile communications to his role as Product Marketing Manager in Nokia’s S60 organization. He is responsible for promoting the runtime technology offering of the S60 platform, encouraging software developers to create innovative applications and services for mobile devices.

Oren joined Nokia in 2001, and held a variety of positions in product management, software development, and standardization. Before joining Nokia, he worked for over 10 years as a software engineer and architect, gaining experience in wide range of areas including 3D graphics, machine translation, Web application development and database design . Oren earned an M.S. degree in software engineering from Northeastern University and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from MIT.
