December 30, 2006 Podcasting Joy for N95 Posted by Steven at 10:15 AM | Categories: N95, Nokia Podcasting

N95.jpg

For those of you lucky enough to have N95s in your hot little hands, you might notice that the 1.00.0-1.00.2 versions of Nokia Podcasting just don't want to install. (S60 3.1 vs S60 3.0)

We now have an updated version of Nokia Podcasting which will install on the N95 (and should work on other S60 3.1 as well. Fingers crossed.)

Presenting version 1.00.3! (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD)

There are no other changes in this build, so those of you with other S60 3.0 devices who are still dreaming of the N95 can happily continue to use the 1.00.2 version.

For those of you still using the beta version of Podcasting ? Shame! Update today for improved features and stability! (either 1.00.2 and 1.00.3 can be installed)

OK, I've found the right link, which is:

Happy new year to all!

Thanks, G. Updated the link.
Should be working fine now.

The Podcasting app is supposed to be compatible with all S60 3.0 phones, but both 1.00.2 and 1.00.3 won't work on my E70 (2.0618.07.10 software). Whenever I open any of the settings (Connection, Download) the app just terminates.

The new version is great on the N91. But I'm still waiting to get my sweaty palms on the N95 ;)

Also, you might want to check out a new site I built recently which alloow people to create and publish audio and video podcasts using their NSeries phones ;) http://noklog.com

Cheers!

One good feature would be adding entry form to PC suite for new podcast urls. It is still complicated for beginners to add URL address which thay have found from web using PC.

Now I add my favorite url from web to note sheet and copy that address to podcast software when search is not finding interwesting podcasts.

I'm using 1.00.2 on an E61, it seems to have issues with downloading over wifi, even with the phone right next to the wireless AP. Downloads will go for a while and then freeze (only indication is no increase in percentage for a long time), stopping and restarting it gets it going again. Also, sometimes you start a download and it immediately returns the '!' -- no reason why, so you try again, and it works. Same thing happens with checking for updates.

I want to be able to have my device check for updates and automatically get them without requiring me to babysit it, restarting failed downloads three or four times until they are finished...

Будет ли работать данная функция на телефоне N80?

Regarding Micah's comment from February, I am having the same problem on an N95. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I have constructive criticism and ideas for improving the podcasting application, who can I contact or where should I go to submit/discuss these suggestions to/with the developers?

No don't get me wrng it is great from what I've seen so far just a couple of tiny issues.

First one has been mentioned before about saying the Content will not play correctly on the device. Sometimes this is true but mostly it does seem to play just great.

The other issue is the filename the podcast is saved as; for example all the podcasts for startcooking.com, available from the directory, get saved as redirect.mp4. This seems to be quite common and therefore you can only have one downloaded at once. Anyone found a solution for this?

I have the same filename problem with the footballguys podcast... all episodes are stored as getep.mp3 -- very irritating. Any idea where to report bugs? Or if the source is available? Is anyone still reading these comments?

(1) I often get "Content may not play correctly...." when I want to download an video-podcast. Maybe it´s possible to include an function like "don´t bother me again"
(2) an function "delete played podcasts" would be great
(3) I would like the application to start the download as soon as I find my "home" network
(4) if (2) works, it would be perfect if I get an hint at the "standby desktop", like "you got one new call" something like "there´s one new podcast waiting"

If I can help by programming these functions, please contact me

I'd be also interested in contacting the development team for giving bug reports and improvement ideas. I looked through all relevant places for contacts but just couldn't find any...

All in all, the application pretty much rocks on my N95.

I have the same experience as micah above on my n95, my download starts via wifi but will then stall at any time for no apparant reason. I have to baby sit the download, manually continuing the download - anyone else having the same experience?

I can only download at approximately 150kbit/s on WLAN or phone network, anyone else having this problem? Drains battery very quickly when downloading as well.

Great so we never get a response from Nokia but we get lots of spam about "great blogs" - does anyone moderate this at all? I am unsubscribing
