In didn’t have too much time to go around 3GSM because my schedule on own S60 booth was so tight. I visited couple of companies providing location solutions for mobile phones. Navicore and Telmap are both basically working in the same area but have very different approach to location services.
Continue reading "Navigation applications" »I has been out of office for couple of weeks. First was 3GSM then I came back to Finland for a one day and flew to my old hometown Beijing. I trained Nokia people, did some shopping, tuned Esko the beijingman’s espresso machine and ate well.
Infrastructure is really developing fast in Beijing. Time from airport to my usual hotel Swissotel was shorter than it used to be because of a new huge bridge over 3rd ringroad. Overall I think traffic culture has changed there. On GontiBeiLu road traffic was not that chaotic as it used to be. Having about 10 persons controlling the traffic in one crossing seems to have an impact. I wonder what would happen if those persons are removed. Food was so goooood and prices very reasonable. Air, better not to talk about it. I was also surprised the the official English newspaper China Daily had some negative news about China in the front page. Few years ago it almost never happened. Our house delivered China Daily free of charge every morning and straight to the waste bin it went.
But it’s time to about analyze 3GSM. First of all, it was so much better event than CTIA in San Francisco last autumn. CTIA was the first exhibition for after a long brake and after CTIA experience I was very reluctant to take part to 3GSM. I was categorizing exhibitions to marketing money black hole group. 3GSM is expensive for companies and it’s partly a black hole, but I had very good discussions with lots of people and couple of excellent initiatives. Knowledge about S60 was quite good among the visitors. So I could focus to demonstration itself. Foreca Flash weather was really excellent demo about Flash Lite capabilities. It’s always fun to demo application which has appealing look and works like a toilet on a train (as we Finns like to say).
The first busy day in 3GSM is over. Most of the people checked the device showcase, but I was happy to see so many interested about Flash Lite. It has been proven now that some people actually read my blog and my previous posting encouraged people to visit here to say hello.
Naturally we have the latest S60 phone in S60 stand. It is Samsung SGH-Z600 UMTS phone, publicly launched yesterday. Small size, light weight, clamshell and of course familiar S60 user interface. Come to visit and try.
Next week is is going to be painful week for my feet. I’ll fly to Barcelona on Sunday and 3GSM exhibition doors are going to open on Monday morning. I’ll be there, on S60 booth, Hall 1 , stand nr C22. I am demonstrating Flash Lite there, so come and say hello, see the latest Flash Lite developments, ask about S60, tell your interest in smatphones and your view what smartphone future will look like. You have also excellent opportunity to tell me how boring or interesting mrktngman blog and propose some good topics to dig into during next few months. See you in Barcelona!
Google ranked the first among the most impact-ful global brands according to the Interbrand Brandchannel's fifth annual Readers' Choice Awards, edition 2005. Excellent outcome for a company at sever years of age.
The results of Interbrand survey made me wonder how expensive is it to build up the world’s most impact-ful brand nowadays?
