I tried S60 video sharing feature. Oh boy, it really made me a good impression. You make a normal voice call and during the call you can decide, if you want to share also video. Whole system is build so that after a normal voice call is activated, your phone actually connects to server and checks, if both ends are capable of video sharing. If both ends support the feature and 3G network is available, you can see share video option under the options-menu.
The sharing session started quite quickly and before starting sharing I didn’t have to guess about the success, like I have to when trying to use 3G CS video call. This would be great feature for MMS as well. I haven’t sent any MMS messages during last 18 months. I don’t know who is having MMS terminal and I don’t see these legacy MMS support solutions good at all. It’s easier to send pictures directly from phone email to email. Anyway enhanced MMS could work so that you start to type MMS message, you select receiver, after that phone checks if receiver is really capable of receiving MMS messages and then you can continue. I think new upcoming MMS 1.3 version includes something else more valuable, like new content formats. Like I would care, email is already invented.
