Bad news on the other side of the world always has a bigger impact when you have personal experience about the place. A toxic benzene spill has caused the stoppage of water service in Harbin, China. City of 4 million people is out of normal water supply. I spent a weekend in Harbin about 3 years ago.
We took a night train from Beijing to Harbin and flew back. Harbin is famous about ice sculptures. Every winter they have a massive ice festival. It really was spectacular. Here you can see huge slide and Ferris wheel on the side.

Even before this benzene catastrophe, Harbin wasn’t the cleanest place on the earth. Air pollution was really bad. The ice sculptures were covered by black coal dust. The city could attract international tourists, festival is so special, but there has to be big change in the city itself before big masses of foreign tourists will arrive. I wouldn’t be surprised, if the festival is cancelled in January 2006.
In Harbin I was using my second S60 phone, Nokia 3650. The killer application on the phone was 3rd party game, Triz . I was very addicted to it. I remember sleeping badly in the night train and playing it. Waiting the flight back to Beijing and playing it, until battery was dead. In general don’t fancy PC or mobile phone games, but if game is so simple as tetris, I get easily hooked.

Harbin had recovered water supply serveral days before.
There are serveral Chinese characters in your picture, "Xiao Ling Tong", which means the PHS:)

Media always informs about bad news, but never when things get back to normal.
PHS = PAS = Xiao Ling Tong was really popular when I was living in China. UT Starcom really made good work then. I haven't followed their story closely anymore, but quick look to UTSI chart proves that there has been some problems to maintain the speed.
