S60 Open to new features

We are entering to busy Chrismas party time in Finland. The first party this week was organized by Mobile Monday. In the event there were speakers form 6 companies, something to eat and couple of free beer. Mobile Monday is a good place to meet some old friends and make new ones. I didn’t behave well. I was not the only one. Too many prioritized networking opportunity over presentations – I was one of them.

Bad news on the other side of the world always has a bigger impact when you have personal experience about the place. A toxic benzene spill has caused the stoppage of water service in Harbin, China. City of 4 million people is out of normal water supply. I spent a weekend in Harbin about 3 years ago.

I’m very strict what comes to personal things and showing brands. When I select clothes, I really don’t want to be a walking advertisement. If there is huge logo on the skirt, the company should be the one paying to me, not vice versa. I’m customer of Zara. I like the style and there’s never Zara logos visible.

It is not an easy job to put together excellent user experience and even pass the expectations. I had a trip to San Francisco while ago. I got bunch of tickets and because I hadn’t traveled from Helsinki airport for ages, I wanted to check how much earlier I should be at the airport. There was nothing about this in the tickets or in a pocket where the tickets were delivered. I checked from Finnish aviation web pages, which informed me to check from the air company that I’m using. Then next destination would have been British Airways and find Helsinki airport information – aaargh, forget it. Better to check from Finnair what they recommend and use it as guidance, BA can’t be that different. It worked, I was ready to optimize wake up time and arrival to airport. Trouble just started from there, but telling all the details would be too long story.

I watched a movie on last weekend. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an excellent book from Douglas Adams. Now there is a movie about it. It’s not a bad movie, not a masterpiece either. Anyway, that’s not a point in here.
