The greatest asset of S60 is the S60 community. We are constantly looking for more ways to make sure what matters to S60 community matters to us. As part of that effort, together with our product managers, we will try to discover what really matters, from your stories.
If you are reading this blog there is a good chance that you have chosen to use java for developing your application. But if you felt that java was not your thing and decided to use something else, we value your opinion equally. Whether you use java or not we are interested in your stories.
Tell us your reasons for choosing java or your reasons for not choosing it. Also add the type of applications you are developing. There is a chance that our product managers will further contact you to get more details so please do fill in your email addresses. Your stories will be valuable inputs for us.

Java is not universal, too much SDKs too deal with in order to get an app running everywhere as it was supposed to be.
Just check any download site, the first step is always to identify your phone in order to get the right one, this is the main concern IMHO. And if your phone is too recent you're only choice may be to download only a generic version (if exists...)
soemthing else ? ok... unable to deal with the phone system on much SE, unable to backup stored datas, midlets needs installation on S60...
On the other side... well, it works... ;-)

Posted by: Andrei Mihaila | October 10, 2007 09:16 PMMy company has decided to start developing a certain application on Java ME for S60, because native SymbianOS/S60 development is simply too difficult, error-prone, and frustrating. Also, it has already been developed for the BlackBerry in Java ME (+ BlackBerry's own UI classes, so the UI code still has to be ported).
