May 09, 2008 Online Carbide documentation push Posted by L. Frank Turovich at 10:27 AM | Categories: Future directions, Off-topic, Product features, Support, Usability

One of the more ambitious ideas I have for the next release of Carbide is to throw all of the public Carbide docs onto a website using the Eclipse Infocenter. One of the drivers to do this is to make the information available to Google searches. Most people, including myself, have developed the habit of simply doing a Google search for anything we want and simply ignoring our local resources. In many cases I believe that people sometimes actually forget that they have product documentation on their machine. And let's face it, searching the web has become both a habit and the way things are done.

March 13, 2008 Tools for Web Runtime Posted by Dan Podwall at 07:05 AM | Categories: Off-topic

Web Runtime

This is off-topic for this blog, but readers of this blog may be interested to know about a new tools project. With S60 Feature Pack 2, Nokia has introduced Web Runtime. It brings widgets to the S60 platform. Widgets are application based on standard web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. There's quite a bit of information about widget development on Forum Nokia.

We just started a limited-access alpha test program for Web Runtime tools. If you're interested, follow the link below to request access to the program. Please make sure to answer the questions or your access may be delayed.

March 04, 2008 Development Tools is Tough Business... Posted by Tim Kelly at 08:06 PM | Categories: Off-topic

That (fake) Steve Jobs has been pretty hard on his Development Tools team lately.

Woah! At least we get 3 meals a day! Good thing we've wrapped up our development on Carbide 1.3 on time and get to see the spring thaw. Developer tools is tough business - it's not all glamour, fame, and Hollywood parties you know.

(I'm pretty impressed by any one that can work a little humor into Development Tools?)

August 08, 2006 Mosquito repellant app Posted by Markus Ahonen at 02:52 PM | Categories: Blognotes, Off-topic

Symcity has breaking news of next summer's hot software product... Apparently, someone's working on an app that plays a high-pitch tune that drives mosquitos bonkers. This is a killer app, mark my words!
