June 15, 2006 Carbide.c++ nears Beta Posted by Markus Ahonen at 09:26 AM | Categories: General, Product releases

Carbide.c++ Developer/Professional v1.1 is nearing its beta launch -- we expect to have product available for our closed beta group by the end of the month. Forum Nokia PRO availability (via the tools alpha) is also planned. This will be the final opportunity for beta testers to review the product and submit bug reports. So far, based on the feedback we've received from our beta group we've managed to do some significant changes to the product relatively close to our feature complete date. The beta will reflect our view of what the product should look like, except for a few things like getting icons, docs, licensing, and the webstore into place.

We already have quite a bit of beta testers -- but if you're interested in seriously abusing the beta product, and run a non-english version of Windows XP, please let me know -- the more bugs we identify during beta, the better the end product will be.

It seems I am a little bit late realizing that Carbide.c++ team has a blog too. I just knew this blog today from NewLC.com. Good work Markus!

What are the options in the post linker of Carbide?
--capability=NONE

I am having an issue to access a Flash Lite file in the private directory. I am self signing the sis. So intallation is fine but access to the file does not work.

I'm currently using Carbide C++ on a Chinese version of Windows XP as a daily basis. Is it too late for me to participate in the beta testing?

Sure thing, I'll send you an invite today.

It's me again, as you do not answer the above comment.

We are starting a cooperation with INdT, Instituto Nokia de Tecnologia, from Reacife, PE, that is near Maceio, AL, where we are located. This was the reason why I asked to be included, if yet possible, in the beta program.

TIA,

Alcino

Hi Alcino -- apologies... Our beta program is all but over; please contact me so we can see about what we can do for you and your class.

Cheers,

How could I contact you directly? As I said above, here at UFAL, a small university in Brazil's Northeast, in Maceió, Alagoas, we are starting a Symbian OS undergrad programming course as part of an agreement with INdT, the Nokia Technology Institute from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. We had the Carbide C++ Express 1.0, based on Eclipse 3.1, and I'm supposing that the new Carbide should be based in Eclipse 3.2, that I consider more than just a bit better than the previous version, and this is the reason for this request.

TIA,

Alcino
