Hi Stefan.

Great and very true article. "Cutting edge" products and services have been virtually exclusive in the "Social" marketing area so far and hats off to Nokia for being at the forefront for structuring WOM.

I sell consumer home appliances and we are just seeing organised WOM coming through into mainline consumer products. Our brand is highly respected and top quality but experienced mainly by an older purchaser. To address this, we launch a new appliance this Autumn, a first of it's type for us. The build up to launch is mainly teasers online and part of the launch strategy is to give bloggers in our product sector sample models for evaluation together with posting product video's on YouTube etc.

Our lives are changing from a media targeting view which is becoming a challenge to the advertising execs. How many of us now only read the news feeds we choose? The new opportunity is to capture the exact interests of the individual consumer without their privacy being invaded. The "Phorn" debate a case in point.

Adam (sigma421) comments on "The real future of advertising, it’s here, but we’re too afraid to admit it"
