About: Aleksi Uotila
Hello world! I'm Aleksi Uotila and I wrote my first hello world in Java back in 1996 when I was studying computer science in University of Tampere. After my studies I joined Nokia in 1998 and have been working with Java related issues ever since. I have been involved in the creation of Java MIDP and the whole mobile Java. For example, I participated the design of many of the Java ME APIs in Java Community Process. I have also been working on Eclipse Foundation where we designed and implemented the eSWT UI toolkit. For many years I have been leading S60 Java Runtime's UI implementation team and now I'm acting as a Product Owner for User Interface issues here as chief engineer and architect. I also like to write about Java ME programming (other than just API specs), thus far it has been to the official Java ME book from Sun Java Series, Forum Nokia Wiki and this blog. I have a wife, two young kids and a house to maintain which means I won't be coding in my spare time, although I'd love to.
