S60 Ambassador site now live and Open to New Ambassadors

Consumed by S60 - May 28th, 2008 - Written by Daniel Shugrue

The S60 Ambassador site, warts and all, is now open to the public. The good: S60 Ambassadors can now submit reports through the website. New Ambassadors can look at other reports in order to see what we are looking for and what other people are talking about. All Ambassadors can see where their rank (Congrats to LennyBons who leapt to the top of the ranking this week.) The bad: You may notice a few glitches still in the site, and the backend leaves a lot to be desired (I feel Ricky and Stefan’s pain) so bear with us as we work the kinks out / learn to live with it.

Raj, Kristina, and I will be your guest Ambassador Relations Specialists for the rest of this week. I’ve been moderating reports today and felt a bit of nostalgia for the NY and Cali campaigns of last year. Great to see some familiar names in there, and also great to see some new ones. I noticed tho that a lot of the newer S60 Ambassadors were missing some details, so I wanted to share the rational behind the points system. Here’s how it works (paraphrased slightly from the official rules):

S60 Ambassadors are encouraged to talk to friends, family, and strangers about S60-based products and services,
and report on the conversations that they have. Reports should be submitted via http://www.ambassadors.s60.com. Each time S60 Ambassadors submit a Report in which they describe a WoM encounter, including full disclosure of their status as S60 Ambassadors, they will earn forty (40) points. Participants will also earn extra points based on the content of their reports. Reports will be judged and a maximum of 10 extra points will be accrued based on the following criteria:

1) COMPLETE REPORT: includes information regarding when, where, with whom the WoM conversation took place, and what the reaction to the WoM activity was, and includes mention of a particular feature of S60 and a particular feature or benefit of the S60-based product or service on which the particular campaign is based.
2) PURCHASE REPORT: Purchase report includes information regarding
when and where the Recipient of the WoM activity bought an
S60 device;
3) FEATURE IMPLEMENTATION REPORT: includes information that
leads to an implemented feature in the S60 software.

To paraphrase further: If you write a report and describe a conversation in which you mention that you are an S60 Ambassador, you get 40 pts. If you do one of the following 3 things: Describe a feature which is eventually implemented in the product, convince someone to make a purchase, or just do a great job of describing the what/when/reaction of the word of mouth activity, you get an extra 10 points.

We’re pretty flexible about what you say, so long as you remember to say you’re involved in the program. Beyond that we want honest, open communication. Ultimately that’s what makes the program real and the communication effective.

Happy WoMing. We look forward to reading more reports. If you have comments about the program, the website, the layout, etc., please leave them on this blog.

    I understad the reasons for being forthcoming about the S60 ambassador program, but does that mean each entry should more or less start with: I pulled out my phone and briefly described the S60 ambassador program in which I am participating…..

    Kevin — You could just, somewhere in the report, say: “I disclosed I was an S60 Ambassador and then told them about xyz” without getting into the details. Of course, we kind of live for the details over here on the consumer engagement team, the more the better. Bottom line is that we want to encourage full disclosure of S60 Ambassador status in each conversation and that’s why we require it is included in each report.
