Videos of S60 demos at MWC

S60 Events, S60 News - February 12th, 2008 - Written by Saara Bergström

I promised to write a bit more about the Touch UI demo, but instead I thought that why not shoot a video of it. S60 is expanding the UI offering by Touch UI with tactile feedback to create new type of devices and applications and by UI Accelerator Toolkit to create graphically stunning applications. On the same go I shot a video of the sensors demo too. You can read more about the new innovations on S60 UI from here.

Gotta love Mirna’s voice… it’s so specific you can know even among a million others :)
Oh and is that the S60 sensor technology on the N95 or just FlipSilent? :p

Very nice! I wonder will the handsets require faster hardware to support such features…

The S60 Touch UI Demo is nice..very cool! But the Sensor Technology is old stuff.

@Rita El Khoury: I don´t think, that this Application is FlipSilent ;)

I am a huge symbian/nokia fan had every nseries phone up till n95 8gb I couldnt wait to see the new touch interface and was utterly disapointed Is this what the number 1 smartphone company can come up with. I know this is a pre-release beta but come on dont demo things like this. people(iphone users) will start cracking jokes This OS is not even look 10 percent done and looks nothing like the demo a few months back Please next time show something that will fulfill expections Symbian

Maybe deja vu but I’m sure I saw these at ExCel in October. I recognise the fish as well as Mirna’s voice!

Ahhh, Nokia promised that with the FP2 we will have a new mp3player… where is it? From pictures on the web is the same as N95’s a year ago!
Promised but not delivered? I guess so!

The tablet device used in the S60 touch demo appears to be a XENARC 700TSV.

Funny, the world mobile giant is just developing touch ui. Many others, like Apple, HTC, LG are providing same features long time already. Why is so slow, Nokia?

I had to smile at those who think that Nokia is slow to adopt a ‘Touch UI’. As an old Psion user (5&7), two handhelds with touch screens which ran on the EPOC32 OS, the precursor to the Symbian software of today. Ericsson’s version stuck with the stylus, but Nokia still uses a stylus with their 8800(?) organiser. My only regret is that somewhere on the road to the S60 version, Nokia lost the simplicity of use, which was the hallmark of those Psion computers.
