Announcements - January 23rd, 2008 - Written by Jukka Eklund

New Calendar. SMS Inbox. RSS feeds. And more! Release 1.2 beta is now available for download.

The Calendar application has been completely re-designed, making it much more usable. You can now use the calendar more flexibly, for example share your calendar availability for visitors without showing the details of events.

The Messaging application now includes SMS inbox and sent messages. Finding messages and replying to them is easier than ever!

This release will make it more usable and fun for yourself and we hope will boost the sharing aspects as well. Install, start using it and let us know what you think!

Update 6.2.2008: There is a problem with certain language variants of certain phone models (for example N95-3 NAM). Application will install but show 4 different icons on the grid and it won’t work. The fix is already being implemented and will be made available soon. Thanks for your patience. This is now fixed and a new release (1.2.1) is available.

PS. Don’t forget these: widgets and badge.

Nice jop Jukka ;) but i am wondering if i can add another language to the site interface such as arabic :)?

  3. Gabriele wrote

Since the first release I’ve noticed the following (on two different phones, E61i and E51):

    MESSAGES > NEW MESSAGE > BLOG ENTRY only lets you compose a new e-mail through the classic client;

no problem if you select MESSAGES > OPTIONS > CREATE MESSAGE (don’t know this exactly in english, I use italian language…) > BLOG ENTRY.

    Ciao! :-)

  4. Jukka Eklund wrote

Gabriele, you are correct we are only able to “send” new blog messages via “classic” S60 application.

MobilePublisher has written a short-news about “Mobile Web Server” on http://mpub.mobi/node/277.

Only thing is I can’t register a site because it always fails with a “couldn’t send email to this address” message - regardless of which email address I enter!

    Any ideas?

  7. Jukka Eklund wrote

Dave, that problem should now be solved!

  8. Jukka Eklund wrote

@iMPACT: Sorry about delay responding, I have been trying to contact one person who did it already for Swedish and succeeded. So it’s possible and I’d like to tell you how but it will be a while still. If you want to try you could start building your own .loc files in the framework.

Hi, I’m using a US N95 but I can’t seem to install MWS 1.2. I’ve removed the previous version of MWS and Python as well. The installation seems like it worked fine, however, MWS isn’t installed properly and I get “puzzle” icon in my Applications folder.

Here are the details of my device from *#0000#
    V 11.2.009
    28-09-07
    RM-160
    Nokia N95 (19.01)

    Thank you!

  10. Jukka Eklund wrote

@Patrick, all: Yes we are having a problem at the moment with at least N95-3 and 6120 classic devices. Thanks for your patience while we try to figure it out.

  11. Patrick wrote

    Jukka,
No problem. Take all the time you need.

  12. Olli Rita wrote

Seems like E65 has some problems also, tried to install it yesterday after finding out it would not work on my N95-3, got the “puzzle” icons, rebooted and got “system error” x4 while booting.

  13. Jukka Eklund wrote

@Olli Rita: Is your E65 also a US version?

  14. Olli Rita wrote

    @Jukka

    Yes it is.

  15. Olli Rita wrote

    @Jukka

    Here’s FW info

    2.0633.65.01
    03-10-07
    RM-208

NSU says it is the latest FW for US E65.

  16. Alan wrote

I also got the “puzzle icons” after installing it in my N82, the fw info:

    V 10.0.046
    24-10-07
    RM313
    Nokia N82 (57.01)

  17. Jukka Eklund wrote

The “4 icons” problem is now fixed and installation will work!

  18. Olli Rita wrote

Thank you very much, works great on US N95-3 (NAM)

Are there any plans for MWS to pull the GPS location of the phone, either through Location Tagger or directly from the GPS. As this could be useful from a business/social point of view. i.e. a feed that provides the location of the phone that can be feed in to a map. So you could see where you buddies/employees are (if they want), May be a location request, similar to the camera shapshot request?

  20. Jukka Eklund wrote

Simon, technically all the pieces are there already so GPS location can be asked from the device by a web application etc. We haven’t yet done such a service ourselves but stay tuned.

If you want to develop something yourself, taking a look on Python APIs and our documentation at http://forum.nokia.com/mws should be easy.

I’ve also try to install to my N80 with V5 software.
However, I’ve also got system error and puzzle icons. V5.0719.0.2 firmware.

  22. Jukka Eklund wrote

@Felix, make sure you tried the release 1.2.1 (and not the first 1.2 version) which is now available at http://mymobilesite.net/download.

  23. Felix wrote

    Dear Jukka,
I have tried both 1.2 and 1.2.1 versions
Both installed with system error and 4 icons
    in my own folder.
System error also resulted whenever I restarted
    the phone

    BR,

    Felix.

  24. Jukka Eklund wrote

@Felix: (Deleted the multiple comments) Let me check this, sounds weird since 1.2.1 should have fixed that error. Could you send me following information: product code (visible under the battery, it is 7 digits such as 052xxxx. Also what languages do you have in the phone? Thanks!

  25. Felix Leung wrote

    Dear Jukka,
Sorry for not replying yesterday but I cannot
    post with my home machine.
I tried both versions and they all exhibit same
behaviour : system error during installation and
phone restart, plus 4 icons in my own folder.

    BR,

    Felix.

  26. Felix Leung wrote

Dear Jukka, thanks for your prompt reply.
    My IMEI number is : 0535682;
Hong Kong version so traditional chinese language.

    BR,

    Felix.

    Dear Dr. Jukka,
    I found out the problem.
If you install it to phone memory it is ok.
If you install it to memory card it will have
that dreaded system error and 4 icons.

    Thanks for your help.

    BR,

    Felix.

  28. Jukka Eklund wrote

Felix, good that you solved it. I suspect the problem is because you tried first 1.2 version first. If you remove MWS and make sure there is nothing left on the memory card, it should now install into memory card as well.

BTW, I’m not Dr. Jukka (just Jukka) Dr. is a different person :)

  29. Felix Leung wrote

    Dear Jukka,

(Sorry for calling you Dr. Jukka).
    Thanks for your help.

I tried a new mini sd card but still get the
same problem. But I am happy that it works !

    BR,

    Felix.

    Hi,

Is there a definitive way to add Chinese language option in a US version N95 RM-160?

    Any response is highly appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    Stone

  31. Jukka Eklund wrote

Stone Lee, we haven’t got Chinese language supported but it might still work. Have you tried with the instructions here:
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Adding_your_own_translation
