Invitation to closed beta test (desktop widgets)

Announcements - December 10th, 2007 - Written by Jukka Eklund

The Mobile Web Server technology is used in various parts of Nokia as a test and innovation platform. Now one of these projects is ready to make their achievement available for the world: let me introduce My Mobile Site desktop widgets!

This is a collection of small applications ie. widgets running on the PC desktop each serving a purpose: read and send text messages, make a call, browse gallery pictures etc.

The widgets will eventually be available through Nokia Beta Labs, but we decided to do a small closed beta test round with some of you first. Thus 10 volunteers will get a chance to test them out before they go out to a wider distribution. It goes without saying the results of this first external test are very important to us.

How to take part? First, check out the requirements:

  1. - Mobile Web Server 1.1 beta installed and working on the phone
  2. - PC running Windows XP, Vista or Mac OS
  3. - Yahoo! Widgets installed on PC
  4. - willing to test the widgets intensively for some time, and send feedback according to requests by me

Second, send me email (jukka.eklund (symbol) nokia.com) containing the following information:

  1. - your full name
  2. - your mobilesite.net domain
  3. - your device model
  4. - your PC operating system

I will pick the 10 testers in the order of received emails, so act fast!

Update: Got 10 volunteers, thanks for your fast response! Stay tuned..
