Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter launched at Beta Labs

Ladies and gents, let me introduce Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter, the first Beta Labs application for Nokia Internet Tablets. That’s right, Beta Labs is not for S60 and S40 devices only: we are going to have lots of cool stuff for Internet Tablets such as Nokia N810 and Nokia N800 in the future too!! (I wonder if we should set up a dedicated section for these).
Anyway, all you N800 and N810 owners, try this out:
With Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter, you can easily convert your videos – the ones you shot yourself and the ones you downloaded from the Internet (legally of course) – into an optimized format for your Nokia Internet Tablet. All you need to do is drag and drop your videos into the application, which automatically converts them into a size and resolution that are just perfect for your Internet Tablet.

So 770 is not supported? Does N800 need the OS2008 update (not yet available I think).
Hi Tommi. I’m sorry to say I can’t help much with the application as I don’t have an Internet Tablet and have Windows Vista. But I do want to express my opinion about creating a special section for these apps: I think it’s a great idea. That way, people could browse by platform and you wouldn’t have 3 post about S60, 1 about something else etc.

Hopefully this week. Something broke yesterday, otherwise I would have done it already.
I’m not impressed, for several reasons (which I’ve already provided in the feedback button)
1. Only a Windows client. The Tablet community is much more OS-diverse than the S60 community, and this will definitely limit use.
2. It took a 720MB file and created an 800MB one. That helps me zero.
3. After creating the file, it asked me where to save it, and took a few seconds to do so. Why not ask me that before, and then automatically put it there? Seems silly.
4. It locked up at 100% and said “21 seconds” remaining for about an hour. XP on a Core Duo with a gig of ram.
only a windows xp client?! additional clients please!!! Im running OSX and vista so im out of luck!
An additional request for an OS X 10.4- 10.5 compatible version.
Jukka Eklund - N800 does not require OS2008 update, it works fine with OS 2007.
Ricky Cadden - The point of this application is to reach out to a more mainstream non-techie audience, who are almost certainly using Windows. That’s why it’s such a simple app with virtually no advanced options. Linux and OSX users who want to convert video already have plenty of much more powerful applications, and if you do use Linux or OSX it’s likely that you’d prefer one of those.
Having said all that, the app has been written using the Mozilla engine so I assume it would be relatively easy to port to many different platforms.
Yes, there is tablet-encode for GNU/Linux users. Can be used on other platforms too.
good app, but I’ll suggest some new features:
1) direct encoding from an URL
2) output to at least 640*480 resolution (the current output res limit is 400*200, quite poor)

The Visual C++ package does not install, so the converter does not install.
“Error creating process . Reason: C:\WINDOWS\system32\advpack.dll”
Any ideas?
