Interesting… wonder if these are some of the ideas the people that were fired were working on. I guess they won’t be working on them anymore. “Work on new ideas for us and then we’ll throw you on the street.”
Concerned,
I have read all your comments in the last ten days.
I’m deeply empathic with you and with all the people that have been fired by Nokia. I know what I’m talking about, I was fired too, many years ago and was one of the most thraumathic experiences I’ve ever lived.
But… on the S60 blogs there isn’t the best/suitable space for this kind of complaints.
It’s maybe kinda good for your anger management, but you have stepped into the wrong place. Sorry!
Hope your future will be bright sometimes!
First of all: I was not fired by Nokia, you shouldn’t worry about my future. I am not a disgruntled ex-employee looking for pity.
Secondly: you obviously fail to grasp the enormity of this issue. Not just one or two people got fired… 700 people got fired. That’s SEVEN HUNDRED. But as bad as that sounds that is not even the main issue here. The biggest issue is the repulsive way in which most, if not all of these 700 people were treated. Abuse is the word the comes to mind. That’s why modern nations have progressive labor laws: to protect against corporate abuse. I assure you this issue is not about to die anytime soon, I don’t think that 700 people will quietly fade into the sunset. The legal aspect will yet be determined in the courts. By the way… were you aware of this company’s record profits last year? Perhaps you should do some reading.
Thirdly: The way in which the colleagues on this blog that avoided the axe are behaving is sad. Boasting about drinking on company paid binges in Barcelona is perhaps in poor taste? That should be reported to global human resources, wonder what the management thinks about this abuse? Now that 700 people are out of their jobs maybe current employees should show some self-restraint ? How about putting this blog on hold while the issue is being resolved? How about keeping a low-profile and giving the 700 people a chance to settle down. Stop the propaganda spin that noone believes in anyway.
People’s lives were affected. Seven hundred people. Lives… marriages… parents being torn apart by this savage corporate act. Save your “hope you will have a bright future” condolences for when your goldfish dies. These are people that have given many years out of their lives to this company and now they were spat in their faces.
Stay tuned…
Concerned,
I am just a Nokia consumer/reader of this S60 blogs.
As I said I truly emphatise with all the seven hundred people throwed away from Nokia.
Unfortunately your behaviour stands for LACK OF EDUCATION.
Do your number; I don’t think I’ll visit these blogs anymore.
Sorry for all!
Sorry but i think this is absolutly not the place to discuss this issue… i’m defently a Nokia consumer but hearing about the 700 people getting fired gets me worried. if you know details about this issue please contact me maybe i can setup something to spread the word.
Kevin: thanks for your support. 700 people being mistreated and getting fired is not good news. Not only are there things happening to spread the word but there is now talk about possible lawsuit.
Stay tuned…
Concerned - I completely understand your concern and am sympathetic to your frustrations. But like I’ve said before, here on the S60 Blogs we discuss S60-related issues, anything consistently off-topic is considered “spam”. I apologize but any more off-topic comments from you will be removed and your IP’s will be banned.
You need to understand that I’m just a young peon here at the company. You may have some valid concerns but no one with any importance is listening, it’s just a bunch of S60 geeks who read this blog.
What I recommend you do is contact our communications team, I believe they’d be the appropriate people to discuss these issues with you. Their contact info is here: http://www.nokia.com/A4126607
I know you’ve written some interesting S60 comments in the past under a different nickname. I look forward to having more interesting S60-related discussions with you here on my blog. Thanks!!
Thanks Phil. I relize this is not the forum and I apologize. I got caught up in the emotions, one person that I know was affected by this event.
I still am S60 and Nokia fan. Thank you.
so much for my happy ending!!!
lol s60 geeks??? ya i might be tech-savvy but anyway, i wouldnt be surprised if those devices came up in 10+ years as technology is racing and even us humans with brains cant keep up with it updating so often!!!
