S60 browsers - the next level
We are so going to be spoiled by the next-gen mobile browsers.
Go and check out:
- Thunderhawk (download from here, Allaboutsymbian’s comments)
- Opera 8.5 (download from here, MobileMag comments, Darla Mack comments, Mobile-Review.com’s review of Opera 8.0)
- Opera Mini (download from here, Allaboutsymbian’s review)
- Nokia’s new open source browser for S60 3rd edition (not publicly available yet, more info from here and here, osnews.com overview)
- Netfront 3.2 (this one has been around for a year, but I thought it was worth a mention. download from here)
I have played around with the browsers more intensively for a couple of days, and I have to say that mobile browsing has been taken to the next level. But this time I won’t go into details - you really must try the apps yourself.
Don’t you just love the competition?

Test comment
Since yesterday, we have had some technical problems with this blog site. I have had troubles posting entries, and you have not been able to post comments.
Sorry for inconvenience.
Absolutely. Effective mobile browsing of non-optimized pages is where it’s at. Funny how long it took for people to figure out how to work with small displays, isn’t it?
Don’t we love the competition, you ask? Sure… but we expect our technology to be leading the pack!
Any browser that depends on a server to do “mobile optimisation” does not really cut it. You need a full-fledged browser to access secure and intranet sites. And for privacy reasons, for everything else, too.
Thunderhawk is listing some S60 3rd Edition devices supported (like N91) but their installation package is not compatible with S60 3rd Ed.
we want to see some mobile browser with flashlite player embedded
Doesn’t the new S60 browser have that already? I got the impression from s60.com/browser.
